In many ways our lives are the sum total of the decisions we’ve made, and many people have decisions they wish they could forget or even un-do. Even though everyone fails at some point in life, failure doesn’t have to be permanent.
It’s very important that we get firmly grounded in the basic truths of what it means to be a follower of Christ. Thankfully, the New Testament book of Galatians gives us the basic doctrine we need to stay grounded.
It’s easy for the dirt & grime of life to obscure our vision so that what matters most gets blurry, but we don’t want that to happen. We all need to know how God wants us to view our future, our church, and our lives.
Isaiah says God gave us “a sign” – “Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call his name Immanuel.” But if we only celebrate Jesus’ birth, we’re missing the sign. Jesus’ miracles were a sign of peace in your despair, love in your disappointment, joy in your shortfalls, hope in your losses, and light in your darkness. This Christmas, let’s BEHOLD all of what Jesus offers.
We live in a fast-changing & increasingly uncertain society that seems to reject everything we believe in – yet even in that we can develop character that brings stability. When there is chaos all around, we can have a life that’s immovable.
The idea of always loving everybody sounds great, doesn’t it? But it’s definitely not easy. Is there a way to go beyond “putting up” with people who rub us the wrong way? Can we actually love them without worry, doubt, or insecurity?
Decision become the past that shapes our futures. That means the right direction tomorrow starts with the right decision today. “I Have Decided” is all about the big decision to follow Jesus, and what other decisions will involve in your life.
Who are you? That’s an important question to explore. Things like your past, your race or culture, your marital status, your education, and your age can help explain you-but none of them define you. Instead, as a Christian your identity is now defined by only one thing: That you are IN CHRIST.
